Admin by Request - Windows Devices
Admin By Request is a software application that helps organizations manage local administrator rights on desktops and servers.
In layman's terms, it allows users to request administrator privileges when they need them, and then revokes those privileges when they are no longer needed. This helps to reduce the risk of malware and ransomware attacks, and it also helps to improve the security of the organization's systems.
Those icons will allow you to request Administrator privilege's.
There are two means to access those privilege's.
Administrator Session:
is a temporary elevated privilege granted to a user by Admin By Request. This allows the user to run applications and perform tasks that require administrator privileges, but the privileges are revoked when the session ends.
Run as Administrator:
is a command that allows a user to run an application with elevated privileges. This is a more permanent solution than an administrator session, but it also poses a greater security risk.
The main difference between an administrator session and a Run as Administrator is the duration of the elevated privileges. An administrator session is temporary, while a Run as Administrator is permanent.
Administrator Session Instructions:
1. Find the Admin by Request icon at the bottom right corner of the taskbar.
2. Right click the icon and Request Administrator access.
3. A window will pop up requesting your email, cell number and a reason for why you need this Administrator Access. Fill out and send.
4. We will get a notification and will review the request, after reviewal we will promptly approve or disapprove which result in an email response.
5. You will see this pop up on the bottom right corner of the screen right around the time you get the email response.
6. Press Yes and start your session. A new window will pop up with a timer letting you know how long you have.
7. If you find yourself no longer needing administrator access you can press Finish or allow the time to run out.
Run as Admin Instructions:
1. You will right click the application and select Run as Administrator.
2. You will get a pop up where you will have to fill out your email, phone and a reason for why you need to run this application as an admin.
3. You will see a pop up window on the bottom right corner of the screen.
4. Then a User Account Control window CAN pop up asking you to use your credentials. Those credentials are the username and password to your laptop account (for some users that is their Microsoft email, for most others though it's just their first and last.)
5. Your application will now run.
